First Sony struck with the announcement that the newly redesigned "PS3 Slim" would be available for $299.99. Microsoft responded a week later with the price cut of the Xbox 360 Elite to $299, while phasing out the Xbox 360 Pro (20GB) model at a $249.99 price point. Subsequently, Microsoft has added an additional $50 rebate
on the Xbox 360 Elite, cutting the price further to $249.99 through October 5th, 2009.
At the Toyko Game Show, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Wii would be reduced $50 to $199.99 on Sunday, September 27th, 2009. As the Nintendo Wii Price cut has gone live at retailers today, the early results look promising.
At Amazon.com, the Nintendo Wii is the top selling video game item, topping the recently released Halo 3: ODST video game (according to the hourly bestsellers list
).
Amazon is currently offering a free $25 Gift Card
on top of $199 price cut. In addition, they are offering heavy discounts on Nintendo Wii games and accessories.
So, now that all three of the major consoles have announced their pre-holiday price cuts, who do you think will end up on top this holiday?
