So, I suppose I should probably bring this story to your attention, since I was the one that did all the original defamation, but once-closed-down-by-Activision fan project 'The Silver Lining' is alive and less than two weeks from being in your hands.
If you missed the chaos the first go-round, 'The Silver Lining' is a fan-made sequel to King's Quest 8 that was labored over for eight years, only to have Activision squish the project as they were approaching release. Months of negotiations later, Activision has rescinded their cease-and-desist order and granted Phoenix Online (a studio more than deserving of the name now) a non-commercial license to release the game.
Episode one of 'The Silver Lining' is going to be available on July 10th (I guess it's episodic now? Maybe it always was and I never noticed...) and, judging by the trailer, it appears to have some kind of fairy tale themes involved. Definitely a Beauty & The Beast reference, and I thought I saw maybe a Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty in there?
Anyhoo, congrats to Phoenix Online. And congrats to Activision for generating some public PR for a change. One Of Swords's blog even reports that a "thank you Activision" thread has popped up in POS's official forums.
